Questions to Ask

You have choices in surface treatments to reduce the likelihood of slip/fall/skid accidents. Be sure to ask questions about the products you are considering:

  •  Is this a painted product, or an epoxy?
    •  Painted products tend to chip over time, and wear much faster than epoxy products. With the right epoxy, a chemical bond is formed between the surface and the epoxy, which provides for a much longer life.
  •  What type of surface preparation is necessary before applying the product?
    •  If little to no surface preparation is required, the product may not be designed to form a lasting bond with the surface.
  •  If the product utilizes epoxy, what is the quality of the epoxy? Is it two-part or premixed?
  •  At what temperatures can the product be applied?
    •  If cold temperatures are allowed, ask how this affects the bond to the surface.
